The Hilco Digital Assets Journey

Last Monday, Hilco Digital Assets announced that we entered into a strategic partnership with Braden Pollock. When I joined forces with Hilco Global to start HDA, the goal was to become a global leading domain name advisory and investor, in the same way I have been independently and Hilco is across so many other asset classes. With any new venture, there are many important aspects to success such as reputation, client base and network, access to financial and human capital, and most importantly, the team setting out to accomplish this goal. Hilco has the talent, network, reputation, and connections. Day one, we started with a world-class team of me, and Hilco’s David PeressKirstin WasdenGabe Fried (he/him), Jack Hazan, and behind that, some of the smartest minds in asset-based businesses at Hilco Global. Out of the gate, we added rising superstar talent with Daniel Koleshchuk, and Natasha Nel. One year in, we have exceeded our goals so the next question was, how do we get stronger and more strategic? First and foremost, the next addition had to be someone we all personally liked and trusted. Secondly, someone who could help get to the next level, by significantly growing our portfolio of domains that we oversee and invest in, bringing deal flow, adding value to our strategic investment in Squadhelp, and thinking strategically and outside the box. Braden checked every box and that is why we are aligned now. There is still plenty of work to be done, and we are pursuing more talent and strategic relationships. The goal is to win big for our clients who have trusted their assets to us and to fulfill our goal of being the industry-leading advisor and investor. As I wrote last week here, we are always looking to work with others and share in success.

HDTV is on the Horizon

We are going to be starting a 1x per week, hard-hitting, 45-minute live stream podcast (also on demand) with the goal of bringing CEO/Founders who have had success with premium domain names on to share their stories, much like my panel at NamesCon with larry fischer and David Laz from our Home.com deal. We also plan on real-time face-to-face Q and A, for any domain-related questions. We will at least get a couple of these going before year’s end.
