Chocolate.com: Off the Market Forever

It is always rewarding when a domain deal we at Hilco Digital Assets presided over becomes something special. Sometimes, it is the brand for a Fortune 100 company, other times for an emerging market leader. This summer, we oversaw the sale of Chocolate.com, a significant transaction and a category-killer domain for a multi-billion dollar global industry. Along the way, as often is the case, I became friends with the buyer (or seller, or both). The ironic aspect of Chocolate.com is I originally acquired the domain in 2005 and built a chocolate gift business that did ok but did not scale. Well, now, it is going big be time and I am so happy for its owner, who today launched this absolutely stunning site at Chocolate.com and is going to knock it out of the park! He is already a successful entrepreneur with Licorice.com and Pretzels.com, and this will take it to another level. If you appreciate brands or the most valuable domains in the world or just love insane chocolate gifts, give it some love and a try.

The Stellar Start to SquadHelp’s Ultra-Premium Marketplace

It has been one month since Squadhelp soft-launched the first of its kind ultra premium marketplace which, as a part of our Hilco Digital Assets strategic investment in Squadhelp, we manage. It has started off really encouraging with its second strong mid-6 figure sale closing early this week. I continue to be so impressed with the SquadHelp team, data, and technology. As soon as I can say something about this deal, I will do so.
