Controversial Commission Structures and Future Growth in the Domain Name Industry

At Hilco Digital Assets, we are leaders in the domain name industry. This week led to some controversial news on unprecedented commission structures from GoDaddy. I have been involved in $490m of domain name transactions with “fees” ranging from 5-50%, the standard being 10-15%. A 25% commission is a wowza, and unheard of in any similar asset category.

In the next two months, we will be making some significant strategic investments and moves that I believe will be a core part of the future growth, branching out, and evolution of domain names. This is only a teaser because we all need to be smart and timely in elaborating on this, but it excites me and drives us.
