Geo Domains as Global Brands

 My 26 year track record has been built around being a leader and expert in operating, investing in, and advising on the sale and acquisition of the most valuable “Internet Real Estate”, category defining and exact match brand, one word, .com domain names such as Chat*com, Home*com, CreditCards*com, Football*com, Lava*com, and Gold*com, https://lnkd.in/eN-nQ_ge. These are a handful of the $625m of transactions I have overseen. One category within this asset class that I believe has massive value and upside,and has often been understated, are the best one word geo domains, which means “geographic” specific brands. To be clear, just as there are 477,000 words in the Webster Dictionary, all not created equal in value, there are millions of locations that can be matched with their geo domains. A few that have always been close to my heart are Boston*com, owned by the Boston Globe; Newton*com, bearing the name of my hometown, which is owned by Apple and is considered “forever” IP by the company, being the first computer; and Nantucket*com, which I have been close to having a shot at. I have often turned down the offer to represent geo domains, as we try to only deal with the most valuable domains and that narrows it down to a small number. However, this week, we agreed to oversee the first ever sale of Nashville*com. Nashville is a destination, defines country music, and an iconic global brand, all in one. The closest example to it is LasVegas*com and Vegas*com, which were recently acquired by Vivid Seats The original acquisition price of these domains, in their initial transaction, was a $90 million dollar domain purchase, as reported by one of the best at doing so, George Kirikos , https://lnkd.in/ewG5KKC3.
