Patience and Progress in Domain Asset Transactions

Last Sunday, I posted about two new deals that would be closed by today, as well as a few big ones in the works. Well, it is looking like next Sunday, which got me thinking about understanding the differences between being patient, real progress, and a dead end. In the case of both of these specific domain asset transactions that Hilco Digital Assets and I are overseeing, one an acquisition, one a sale, both have required working through buyers/sellers that needed some hand-holding. Sometimes these deals are fast and easy, sometimes they require patience, and sometimes you need to determine if they have stalled or ended. In this case, patience rules the day. With that said, I am confident that by next Sunday’s post, we will be done. I have also hinted at an important strategic investment that Hilco Digital Assets is making. We hope to announce that on or before March 20th! I, for one, cannot wait.

Navigating Investment Opportunities in an Uncertain Economy

It is such an interesting time in the economy, the stock market, the Web space (crypto/NFT), and in tech investments in general. It is still unclear whether we are headed into a deep recession (many are in this camp) or will pick back up growth in 2023. In either case, I am bullish on selective asset investment opportunities, which is why cash remains so key. The best domain names, dot-coms to begin with, and premium brandable and category dot-coms (one word) even more so, remain really steady and continue to be amongst the best ways to achieve ROI as an investment, but as a business, you get the double win; adding exponential enterprise value to your company by way of a savvy, strategic, appreciating investment. I also continue to see stocks oversold in areas like sports betting (massive growth, best days ahead), travel, and some of “yesterday’s darlings,” such as Internet of Things companies, that have been shunned for new, buzzier stuff like ChatGPT.
