NamesCon: Connections, Deals, and Excitement

What a whirlwind. I traveled to Austin for NamesCon and on minimal sleep, came back in time for my daughter’s prom pictures. NamesCon was great, and I am excited that they filmed sessions this year. As soon as they are up, I will post my fireside chat with Darpan Munjal and Soeren von Varchmin, and my keynote with Larry Fischer. There were so many highlights, such as our Hilco Digital Assets dinner with partners, friends, and our team, at the phenomenal Red Ash; lunch at the real deal, Franklin BBQ; and meeting new people & spending time catching up with so many friends.

Sure, we made some deals too, but the social aspects rule the roost for me, and I was excited to introduce my HDA partner Kirstin Wasden to everyone. The highlight for me was bringing my friend David Laz from Fairway into our keynote, the first time an end-user buyer of one of the most significant domain name transactions of all time (Home.com) has been willing to share so much openly. Many people commented to me how amazing they thought this was. I will share the video as soon as I have it.

Big Deals on the Horizon: The Future of Hilco Digital

Back to work Monday; We are in the process of late-stage negotiations on some major domain name transactions, one that could surpass Chat.com in size. It will take some hard work and luck, but I’m feeling good about it. At Hilco Digital, we are committed to being a leader in leveraging category-killer financial domain names and are excited about the opportunity ahead.

We are overseeing the sale of WallStreet.com and can now confirm that we have entered into an exciting partnership to develop VentureCapital.com and potentially PrivateEquity.com, the sale of which we are overseeing. It has been a while since I founded my operating companies, CreditCards.com & InsuranceQuotes.com, both successful exits & still market leaders, but with AI and ChatGPT, we see so much potential to be a player with the category domain assets in the three cornerstones of the global financial markets, representing trillions of dollars of capital.
