Acquisition of IPv4 & IPv6 Category Domains

This week presented a couple of opportunities that I posted about in the past few days, and wanted to elaborate on more in my Sunday Thoughts. First, Hilco Digital Assets acquired the category domain names IPv4.com & IPv6.com for our sister company, IPv4 Global. There are 5 billion Internet users globally, which is a much greater number than the 4.2 million total IPv4 addresses needed to enable those Internet users.

IPV4 Global is the market leader in powering the secondary market for IPv4 addresses and now has the exact match dot-com category domains for the present (IPv4) and future (IPv6). I have been acquiring domains for my own businesses and accord since 1998—over $40m worth of category domains.

When acting as an advisor to buyers and sellers, it is a strong negotiating position to be in when we have also “put our money where our mouth is” on the strategic importance and game-changing value that acquiring your category, exact match domain name unleashes. Hilco has just done that with the IPv4 and IPv6 domain acquisitions. And, we are overseeing the sale of the biggest of them all in this category, Internet.com; if interested please contact us.
