Profile.com – SOLD!

It was a great end to this past week as we at Hilco Digital Assets oversaw the sale of one of the best brandable domain name assets, Profile*com, in a win-win for the buyer and seller. It was great to work with Theodore Worcester from my favorite state of Maine, who represented the buyer and is the ultimate professional. We are already working on our next one together. I was hoping to have something else very exciting to add to this post but it will need to wait until next week.

Every Saturday, I mix up my workout routine and try to take a long walk with my wife and dog. Yesterday, on our walk, we passed a lawn sign in our neighborhood that was promoting an organization supporting a cause, but this post is not about that but the sign, which had the .life TLD for the cause. It jumped out at me that a grassroots street sign campaign is about the right use for a secondary TLD and as far as one will get you. You do not see .life or dot anything else on Super Bowl ads, prime time TV, on billboards, or across the billions of dollars of advertising via all media. It is .com, which is part of the brand, the only extension people notice or even see if it is actually something else. The bigger you get, the more you spend, the more you will drive people to the .com so it better be you. The case studies from founders and exec teams are the proof in the pudding. Random Thoughts, Episode 7 – May 23!

I am very excited for our next episode of my Random Thoughts video podcast on Thursday May 23rd at 12PMEST.
