The Greatest 2-Letter Domain in the World

I have been involved with some of the most iconic domain names over many years, including Sex*com, Home*com, Gold*com, Football*com, and Chat*com, to name a few. It is really hard to answer the question,”what is the best, or what is your favorite, domain name you have ever been involved with”? My answer parallels the same answer when Tom Brady has been asked about his favorite Super Bowl;”the next one”. Well, the next one is here and it is one of my greatest responsibilities to date. There are 676 two-letter .coms. Most are owned by large brands & corporations globally (AA, GM, BP, GE). We are now overseeing what I believe is the greatest two-letter domain of all for the following reasons; It was hand registered in 1991 and has never been available until now; it is category defining for multiple large industries; and it is instantly recognizable as a word. After doing a lot of research, the only one that I saw being close is GO*com (Disney) but it is not a category defining term. The domain is ID*com and I cannot wait to do our job and find the asset its second home ever, one that will be unequivocally game changing for whomever that turns out to be.

Gold.com’s Transaction Price has been Revealed

A few weeks ago, the price of our Chat*com deal became public, as written about here https://lnkd.in/eqxvNv3x . At the time, I wrote that I am a strong believer in price confidentiality for any transaction that we are involved in. Well, it happened again, as our Gold*com deal was uncovered in a 10Q filing of A-Mark, the parent of the buyer, as you can see here https://lnkd.in/eYGFvcUr. If my philosophy of non disclosure of price had to get compromised, I hope that positives come from this for the most premium .com domain assets. Exact match, category defining domain names are the single most important investment a company can make, providing exponential value to its business, so I hope these deals showcase that further.

The Biggest Transactions You Never Heard About

These two sales may top the 2023 & 2024 charts for DNJournal for a long time, because price disclosure is rare. Something I feel very strongly about is that these reports represent a fraction of the actual domain transactions. We completed a deal in Q1 2024 that is more significant than Chat, Home or Gold. Its price may or may not get revealed down the road. Published reports are helpful for the asset class but too limiting to true values and volumes.
