The year was 2005, and it was the week between Christmas and New Year’s; I was trying to acquire the domain name Software.com, and we needed to close the deal by year-end to get the price we wanted. It was in this scenario that innovative people, me and Robert Alfano, got crazy and pioneered the first real loan domain name financing, which led to the first company to loan against domain names, Domain Capital, being born. Fast forward to today, and acquiring premium domains that are financed is more important than ever and still underserved.
