How Deep is your Love?

I have been investing and advising on the most valuable category and exact match domains for a long time. This week, the Stones’ “You can’t always get what you want”  came to the forefront of my mind, related to a domain. Since 2004, I had, on several occasions, unsuccessfully tried to acquire the Love*com domain from AOL, then Yahoo. This week, we at Hilco Digital Assets were trusted to oversee the sale of the Love*com domain. Pun aside, I love this asset as a brand, category and view it as arguably the most powerful, positive, and important word in the world, recognized globally. “But sometimes you get what you need.” I cannot wait to see who the next and likely final forever owner of Love*com ultimately is. We also added the incredible category defining Age*com, to the domains that we have been trusted to represent. With Age and Therapy*com, we have two such important category defining domains for the world, and am excited to ensure that whoever acquires them, will use them to make lives better and longer. Starting 2025 Strong!

It was a strong end of the first month of ’25, as we oversaw the transactions of Snowball*com, Experiences*com, and three more domains I can reference soon in this post. We are working on two very exciting negotiations, that would be big time deals for the buyer and seller. Fingers crossed on those. As I wrote last week, the venture market is slowly investing more aggressively and I am confident that the strategic importance and value of exact match and category defining dot-com domains will rapidly rise in 2025-26.

Another Great ICA Meeting

A big thank you to the Internet Commerce Association for putting on a fantastic event in Vegas this week. We were thrilled to sponsor the closing reception, but most of all, in what was a very short trip for me, I was able to have a great dinner with several friends, see many more, and do some business. My roundtable on high stakes domain negotiations was at overflow and so much fun, with several peers sharing some great thoughts and questions.
