The Streaks of Life

One thing I have deep conviction in is that many aspects of life are driven by streaks. Anyone who plays blackjack, craps, or daily fantasy sports (me) knows this to be true. In life, I have found both the good and less so come in streaks too, and it’s so important to relish the good ones and manage the challenges of the tougher days. In business, this is no different, and specifically in the premium domain name investment and advisory category, where I have built my track record, it applies too. I often teach and preach this to my team, encouraging them to work diligently, persistently, and hard, as they await a good streak to begin. I regularly use the term “letting the most valuable domains marinate” with prospective buyers, which is essential to this category and also applies itself to the concept of a favorable streak. For example, last December, in the week before Xmas break, we at Hilco Digital Assets oversaw $10.75m in domain transactions in a 3 day period, certainly an exciting and feel-good run to end what was already an awesome 2023. Which brings me to the present moment in time. We have well over a dozen serious negotiations in the late stages on some of the most valuable category defining, exact match domains names, ranging from upper 6 figure to 8 figure transactions. A streak is coming in late Q3-Q4, and a lot of work in the trenches and relationships that we have fostered will lead to win-win deals for buyers and sellers. I will post appropriate details when and as I can.
